Oral History

Palestinians in Canada continue to commemorate Palestinian national occasions by issuing announcements, holding seminars, art exhibitions and performances, and holding public gatherings.

A most crucial type of organized cultural activism is the collection, recording and publicizing of personal testimonies and orally transmitted memories of the Nakba period, as remembered by its survivors who reside in Canadian communities.

As the first generation of post-1948 refugees ages, the sourcing and recording/ documenting of their oral histories is taking on urgency: there are still so many untold stories that will not remain accessible to us if we don’t gather them now.
